Namaskar -
In Hindu culture, people greet one another by joining their palms – termed as “Namaskar” or “Namaste”. Namaskar conveys that “the divine in us respectfully recognizes the divine by others.” When we join our palms in the form of Namaste or Namaskar, the pressure points located on the tips of our fingers are pressed together that activates them. Pressing these tip points helps to remember that person for a longer period of time.
Heena -
Henna is not only a great way to decorate and beautify hands and feet but also has many other benefits as well. It is cooling on the system. Apart from the fact that it makes the hands and feet decorated and soothing to look at, applying it on hands and feet was a method to regulate the heat produced in the female body and ease the negative problems associated with ovulation, menstruation, and some other things.
Sitting on the floor and eating -
This tradition dates back to the time when the great sages and hermit used to indulge in Yoga. A cross-legged position enhances the blood circulation in our body as it calms the nerves and releases the tension in them. It keeps the guts healthy as once we sit down, there's less pressure on our body and therefore the heart.
Tilak/Bindi -
A tilak is a red dot that is put in the middle of the eyebrows. It is said that it retains energy in the human body and controls the various levels of concentration. The spot between the eyebrows on a forehead is taken into account as a serious nerve point within the physical body. Also, applying bindi helps us to increase our focus.
Wearing a Toe Ring - The toe ring is called “Bichiya” in Hindi. The nerve on the second toe of the feet is connected to the uterus of the lady. Hence, slight pressure is known to regulate the menstrual cycle and is also known to ensure a healthy uterus.
Touching the Feet of Elders -
The reason we touch the feet of our elders is that, by bending down in front of our elders, we surrender our ego. It is a positive gesture that we possess in front of our elders. When the elder accepts this respect, their heart becomes crammed with good thoughts and positive energy, which they provide out through their hands and feet.
