Kangana Ranaut to play former PM Indira Gandhi in her next

After playing the historical character of Rani Laxmibai and the iconic CM of Tamil Nadu – Jayalalithaa, actress Kangana Ranaut has now bagged the role of Indira Gandhi for her next project.

Actress took to her Twitter to share the news with the world. She wrote, “Happy to announce my dear friend Sai Kabir and I are collaborating on a political drama. Produced by Manikarnika Films. Written and Directed by Sai Kabir”.
 
 
In the series of tweets, Kangna also shared a photoshoot of her where she is posing as Indira Gandhi.
 
 
She also shared many pictures of Indira Gandhi herself with a caption being the words of Khushwant Singh. It reads, “She was very beautiful, not pin-up girl type beautiful, her face was like when all the swords are drawn just before the King’s command....”
 
 
Talking about her project Kangna said that it will not be a biopic. She said, “Yes, we are working on the project, and the script is in the final stages. It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi. It is a grand period film. To be precise, it is a political drama that will help my generation to understand (the) socio-political landscape of current India”. She also added that the movie will see many prominent actors filling in the shoes of Sanjeev Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Morarji Desai, and other important figures of the time.
 
This movie will be directed by Sai Kabir who has earlier worked with Kangana Ranaut on ‘Revolver Rani’. He will also be writing the story and screenplay for the movie. The yet-untitled movie will be co-produced by Kangna and will be based on a book featuring Emergency and Operation Blue Star.

Recently, Kangana Ranaut has also wrapped up the shooting for ‘Thalaivi’ where she plays iconic Jayalalithaa, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Apart from this she is also portraying the role of Air Force pilot in ‘Tejas’ and has also announced the second installment of the Manikarnika franchise, titled ‘Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda’.
