A woman was injured and close to a dozen vehicles have been buried under slush that entered a village in Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, following heavy rains early Monday, said the officials.
6 four wheelers and 5 two-wheelers were buried under all the debris following heavy showers, while a woman sustained some minor injuries when mud gushed into tenements of labourers who were engaged in national highway construction in the area, said NK Joshi, District Disaster Management Officer. The 20-year-old woman is of Nepali origin. He said that the woman belonged to one of the 18 families of labourers living in the huts near Karnaprayag - Gwaldam national highway. Slush entered the village after the Panti stream was flooded by heavy rains. He says the rescue work is going on in the affected area that is located between Narayanbagad and Tharali.
