The Police had carried out numerous raids in and around the areas situated at the Andhra Pradesh - Odisha border.
The state DGP Goutam Sawang said, “In alignment with technology, enforcement, and intelligence, the police department drafted its action plan to ensure that cannabis cultivation and trafficking is under control throughout the state.”
Besides of the destruction of the cannabis plantations, this drive is also working towards providing alternative livelihoods for the tribals who are involved in this drug cultivation in the agency areas.
The operation called ‘Parivarthana’ was launched on October 31, and the state enforcement department claim that it has a huge impact both in terms of voluntary destruction of cannabis from the tribals and the behavioural changes seen in them.
Under this drive, the Vizag police and Special Enforcement Bureau have intensified their cannabis destruction efforts.
